Moravia Walther intersection,
The project is expected to take several weeks for completion.
The project will start with sidewalk, curb and other concrete and other underground work. This will be followed by pavement and marking. Red light cameras will be installed at this intersection. We have also requested a speed camera at Walther and Grindon. This can take time so we have requested speed sentries be mounted on both north and south bound lanes that will indicate posted speed and your speed.
As you know there are numerous concerns about the flow of traffic on Moravia and the intersection of Walther and Moravia. Baltimore City Department of Traffic has put forth their plan to improve the flow of traffic in this area. This plan includes installing dedicated left turn lanes both east and west bound from Moravia onto Walter, installing new traffic signals with red light cameras, and speed cameras on Walther at Grindon. There will also be street installations from Harcourt to Walther that will hopefully eliminate accidents. Regarding the installation of dedicated left turn lanes from Moravia onto Walther, the plan calls for eliminating parking from 3301-3325 Moravia. Initially the plans called for eliminating all parking on the south side of Moravia. The department had made some modifications so that parking will be allowed from 3327 – 3343 Moravia. On the even/north side of the 3300 block of Moravia, 15 parking spaces will be allocated and these will most likely be closer to the west end of the block. The plan also calls for eliminating parking in the 3200 block of Moravia During inclement weather the Moravia roadbed gets very slippery. We have requested upgrade to make the roadbed safer when wet. Here is the response regarding request for a safer roadbed on Moravia westbound approaching Walther.
